During the summer of 2026, mirroRE held a series of three introductory Iranian mirrorwork workshops at its studio in Amstelveen. Conducted by Peyman Gerami and Azade Baloochi, the sessions brought together participants of Iranian, Dutch, Danish, Eritrean, and Turkish nationalities.
Each workshop offered a one-session introduction to Iranian mirror work, covering its history, tools, and geometric principles, as well as an overview of what would be explored in the four-session beginner course. Participants worked directly with mirror, learning how geometric compositions are developed through cutting and arranging individual pieces.
Presented together as a series, the three sessions document the transmission of Iranian mirrorwork within a culturally diverse setting in the Netherlands. They also record how knowledge of the practice—its historical background, tools, material processes, and geometric structure—is being introduced beyond its place of origin through direct, hands-on participation.
